Acer Aspire E 15 Review

The Acer Aspire E 15 is a large laptop. There may be no getting around that. It’s big, and it is thick, and it’s got a friggin’ DVD creator interior. This is a newish-pc that you should purchase in 2018. Does not make feel, does it?

The Acer Aspire E 15 is just this sort of notebook, aggressively priced at $six hundred for our evaluation configuration. It packs in a 15.6-inch full HD (1,920 x 1,080 or X PPI) show, an 8th-era Intel Core i5-8250U CPU, a discrete NVidia GeForce MX150 GPU, 8GB of RAM, a DVD-RW force, and a 256GB SATA stable-nation pressure (SSD). You could drop all the way down to 4GB of RAM, lose the discrete GPU, replacement a 1TB difficult disk-force (HDD), and spend as little as $350.

Design

The Aspire E 15 is instead simple-looking; it is black and plastic with bright, silver accents in its Acer logos (located on each side of its display) and the trim across the touchpad. At 4.9 kilos and 1.2 inches thick, the Acer Aspire E 15 is thicker and heavier than the Lenovo Flex five 1570 ,the Dell Inspiron 15 5000 2-in-1 and the Acer fast 3.Unlike the one’s laptops, which give convertible 2-in-1 designs, the Aspire E 15 has best a pc mode, and its display isn’t contact-sensitive.

There is an SD reminiscence reader on the left facet of the front edge, and a USB 2.0 port, headphone jack, energy input and DVD-RW double-layer force are on the right. That optical power is something of a rarity these days, as none of the laptops we’re evaluating it too offers one.

Display

The Acer Aspire E 15’s 15.6-inch display screen gives good enough shade, however, is mediocre typical. Even as looking a trailer for the film Thoroughbreds, I observed clean, accurate whites in a mansion’s facade and wealthy, gold colorings in a massive, gilded reflect, however, the greens of the residence’s front garden and the crimson of a convertible appeared diminished and stupid. The 1920 x 1080 panel allowed me to see an element in the course of the trailer, together with tricky arabesque wallpaper. In step with our colorimeter, the Aspire E 15 produces seventy-four percent of the sRGB spectrum, that’s below the 89-percentage class average and similar to the 78-percent score from the Acer fast 3. The Lenovo Flex 5 1570 (133 percent) has a more colorful display.

Performance

The Acer Aspire E 15 has 8GB of memory and Intel Core i5-8250U processor provides sufficient speed for efficient multitasking classes. After splitting its screen among a 1080p YouTube video and a dozen Google Chrome tabs (together with Giphy, Google docs, and Slack), I noticed simplest mild, suitable pauses as I clicked among tabs and scrolled thru pages.

The Aspire E 15 earned the first-rate rating of nine,278 at the Geek bench 4 preferred overall performance test, jumping over the eight,446 common for mainstream notebooks (laptops that price between $four hundred and $800) and the 7,177 earned by means of the Lenovo Flex five 1570 (Intel center i7-7500U, 16GB of RAM). We saw rankings of 12,755 from the Acer rapid 3 (middle i5-8250U, 8GB of RAM) and 12,011 from the Dell Inspiron 15 5000 2-in-1 (Intel center i5-8250, 8GB of RAM).

The 256GB M.2 SATA SSD duplicated 4.97GB of multimedia files in 34 seconds, for a pace of 318.1 megabytes with a second. That time beats the 151.5-MBps category common, but we noticed faster speeds of 462.sixty six MBps from the quick 3 (256GB M.2 PCIe three.0 SSD) and 339 MBps from the Flex 5 1570 (512GB NVMe SSD).
